Top 10 Best Games for Nintendo Switch

Top 10 Best Games for Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch has had a huge amount of success since its release, for a few reasons. It’s a solid system, it’s unique, it can be used both portably and not. But perhaps the biggest reason for its success is the awesome selection of games you can get for it! So let’s go over some of the best games out there for Nintendo Switch! Of course, this will be fairly subjective, but I’ll do my best to list the games that gamers on the whole enjoy, not just my personal favourites. If you enjoy this video, let us know by throwing us a thumbs up down below. And if you want more, check out our video on the Nintendo E3 Conference! But before you do that, get ready, it’s time for the Top 10 Best Games for Nintendo Switch!

10. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
Shovel Knight was first released on June 26, 2014 by Yacht Club Games. And it was awesome, an indie platformer that rivalled the best ever made, throwing back to the old 8-bit platformers. But when Treasure Trove edition was released in March 2017 on Nintendo Switch, it quickly became one of the most popular switch games out there. It includes all the campaigns that were funded through kickstarter, as well as the original game. Definitely a solid game that has had great success. And hey, while we’re on the subject of knights.

9. Hollow Knight
Hollow Knight is a Metroidvania style game that is, admittedly, a bit similar to Shovel Knight, not just in name but also because they’re both platformers. But Hollow Knight is definitely an original game in its own right, with rather different mechanics and looks. It was made by Team Cherry by just three people, taking inspiration from Zelda and Metroid. In the game, you play as a tiny knight, as you explore a dangerous, underground world, wielding a nail and using powerful spells. And in the two weeks following its release on Switch on June 12th, 2018, it sold over 250,000 copies. Not too shabby. And did I mention it was made by THREE PEOPLE? Dang. They’re talented. And rich.

8. Sonic Mania Plus
Yep, this IS Top 10 Gaming, so I’m contractually obligated to mention Sonic at least once a video. That’s a joke, but like… it may as well be true. Anyway, Sonic Mania was a breath of fresh air for Sonic fans, who had been so often disappointed with Sonic games in recent years. It was a trip back to the good old days, and everyone was very pleased. But Sonic Mania was not released with physical copies, and fans and retailers wanted them. So Sega said "Uh, you want to give us more money for the same game? Sure..." Now, since a retail release is more expensive, they added some stuff to the game to make it worth it, which made Sonic Mania Plus even better than the original. It added Ray and Mighty to the game, changed some level designs, and changed multiplayer to allow 4 players at once. And it was just bomb.

7. Mario Tennis Aces
Mario Tennis Aces had fans a little bit worried, but ended up exceeding expectations. I can’t imagine anyone needs a description, but if you do, it’s a game where you play But this game saw a bunch of really cool additions and changes to the game, to make it even more engaging and unique, and more than just a tennis game. A bunch of different kind of shots, like zone shot and trick shot, add a whole new element to the game. This is what Nintendo games should be, just fun, fast, a little bit silly, and great for passing around with your friends. And it’s awesome.

6.Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Even though it was originally a Wii U game that was ported to the Switch, this game is on this list for many reasons. For one, Mario Kart is always fun. Even a bad Mario Kart game is still a good game. But this is one of the best ever, possibly even THE best. It packs all the same racing action with your favourite Mario characters, and has some really cool additions that take advantage of the Switch’s capabilities. Deluxe lets you use every character on every track, including DLC, gives you new vehicles, brings back old items, and more.  You can also race 8 at a time locally, and even play two player on the go. Just don't play in public if you get competitive; nobody needs to see you cry.

5. Splatoon 2
Not gonna lie, I’ve somehow managed to almost completely avoid hearing anything about Splatoon 2. But it is without a doubt one of the most successful games on the Switch. It’s a shooter, which isn’t exactly Nintendo’s usual MO, but when you look at the graphics and the mechanics, you can see that it is definitely a Nintendo game. And I mean that in a good way. It's super crazy, and cartoonish, and quite silly, involving players shooting at each other with coloured ink, switching between humanoid and squid form, to try to win a number of game modes. With over 6 million copies sold, it’s one of the highest selling Switch games ever, so if you haven’t tried it yet, maybe it’s time to give it a chance.

4. Celeste
Celeste was released on all the main platforms on January 25th, 2018, and very, very quickly became super popular. With rave reviews, including many perfect scores, this platformer made by Canadian video game developers Matt Thorson and Noel berry is one of the most popular switch games ever. And it's awesome. Surprisingly, Celeste is not the name of the protagonist, who's really called Madeline (line). Celeste is the name of the fictional mountain in Western Canada, that you must climb, while battling a wide array of characters as you work through inner struggles. Definitely worth trying if you like this kind of game. It’s especially popular in the speedrunning community, with players competing to finish it as quickly as possible. But most people prefer to take it a bit slower.

3. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
That’s right Skyrim. In Skyrim, you play as the Dovahkin, someone born with the ability to absorb dragon souls, and utilize them to learn powerful shouts. Skyrim has become a bit of a meme lately, since Bethesda had a habit of just porting the game to new systems rather than making new games. But most people will agree that Skyrim is friggin awesome, and some of the changes they made for the switch made it even better, the most significant being, of course, motion controls. This might seem a bit weird to have all the way up at number 3, since it isn’t exactly a Switch game. But it IS on the Switch, and Skyrim is just such an amazing game that it needs to be near the top of any list, regardless of the console. So good.

2. Super Mario Odyssey
Super Mario Odyssey took the world by STORM when it was released on October 27, 2017. Hopes were high, and the game was even better than people had hoped. It has all the best parts of previous games, like Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy, but added new mechanics too. At times, you'll revert to a 2-D character to play 2-D levels, plus the introduction of Cappy brought a whole possession mechanic to the game, allowing Mario to gain cool new abilities by chucking his hat at nerds. There are even alternate costumes you can use! If you have a switch and don’t have Odyssey, get it. You won’t regret it.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Breath of the Wild was amazing. In the game, we adventure as Link, who has awoken without his memories, in a futuristic Hyrule where Calamity Ganon threatens the safety of the world. You need to release the powerful Divine Beasts and defeat Ganon before he regains his strength. And it’s sick. Breath of the Wild brought us the most open-world Zelda game ever, and it worked really well. Graphically stunning, awesome story, and best of all, they managed to make a Zelda game that played a more like a traditional RPG, while still feeling very much like Zelda. There are some really cool mechanics, the glider is so fun, and it’s just so much less structured than previous Zelda games.

10 Terrifying Serial Killers

10 Terrifying Serial Killers

You might get a few nightmares from this one. So, society seems to have a weird fascination with serial killers. We write books, we make movies about them. Hell, we even put wax figures of them up in our museums, and we've all heard of the most famous ones, like Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, and the oh-so-creepy murderous clown: John Wayne Gacy, but their careers are over, so there's nothing to fear, right? Well, as it turns out, there's more than a few serial killers that have made a name for themselves, that are roaming the world right now. In fact, they may be closer than you think. So if you thought the worst of the worst were either dead or locked up, prepare yourself, because here are 10 Terrifying Serial Killers who are free right now!

1. Kobe cannibal
The Kobe cannibal is a famous necrophiliac murderer from Japan, who's known for killing, having sex with, and eating a Dutch woman named Renee Hartevelt, and yes, he did those things in that order. After being declared insane, he was placed in an asylum to only be released after 15 months due to "paperwork" problems and heavy influence from his rich father. Today, he enjoys a life as a minor celebrity in Tokyo and lives an open and public life. He's written two books, starred in movies, and even speaks at public events where he goes into detail about what it's like to eat people, even mentioning that they taste like tuna. I would say that it's weird that Japan is making this guy a minor celebrity, but then again, this is the same culture that brought us bagel heads, tenticle porn, and pixelated wangs, so, yeah, I'm not surprised.

2. The predator of Ciudad Juarez
Hailing from Mexico, this unidentified killer is responsible for 165 murders. Since 1993, more than 500 women have been murdered in Ciudad Juarez, making it one of the most  dangerous cities in the world. The disturbing thing is that out of all the killings, more than one third are so similar that they're believed to be the work of a single madman. So essentially what we've got here is one of two scenarios: either there's a whole bunch of murderers running around in Mexico killing people, or one murderer who's just really good at covering his tracks. Either way, you should probably reconsider that family vacation to Mexico.

3. Monster of the Andes
Born in Columbia, this murderer became famous for the sheer number of young girls that he killed. Between 1969 and 1980, he killed over 350 girls, 110 in Ecuador and another 240 in Peru and Columbia, but what's even more disturbing than that was the penalty he got for his crimes. As it turns out, Ecuador has no death penalty and has a maximum prison sentence of only 20 years. So in 1999, he was released, having served an average of less than three weeks prison time for each of his victims, and of course, like most guys on this list, he didn't learn his lesson, because he's wanted right now by Interpol for a murder he's suspected of committing back in 2002, meaning that he's been out there for over a decade. But don't worry. I'm sure you're safe. Nothing to worry about. Sweet dreams.

4. The Karachi child killer
The Karachi child killer is an unidentified murderer from Pakistan, who exclusively targets children. Between 2012 and 2013, more than 15 children have gone missing, all of which were found brutally murdered. However, at the beginning of this year, there was a sharp rise in child abductions in the city of Karachi, with more than 190 cases being reported. In fact, it's becoming such a problem that police recommend to parents that they don't let their children out of their sight after dark. Look, I don't want to make a joke, because this is really awful, but maybe if the Pakistani police put in as much effort into finding this guy as telemarketers do into calling us, maybe they'd get somewhere.

5. The Finland slayer
Born in Finland, this psycho committed his first murder at the age of 22, when he murdered a husband, a wife, and their son, all over a bike. Since then, he's been released multiple times, each time going back to jail for various crimes like car theft, parole violations, assault, and yes, even more murders. He also successfully escaped five times over the last 20-odd years of being in prison. Yet, despite all of that, in July of last year, authorities saw fit to reduce his sentence to only 10 months, meaning that he should be free right now. So, if  you're a bike owner in Finalnd or Sweden, you might want to consider another mode of transportation, because Stabby McStaberson's on the loose, and he's got a fetish for bikes! You've been warned.

6. The Highway Serial Killings
These killings are unique because they may involve up to 200 unidentified murderers, that are responsible for up to 450 homicides over the last 4 decades. The victims are almost always women in the sex trade whose bodies are found off of highways all across the United States, sometimes in pieces in plastic bags. In fact, these killings have become such a problem that the FBI created the Highway Serial Killings Initiative to try to protect the public and identify those responsible. The initiative includes such innovative tips as: don't get in a truck with a stranger. Ha! Good thing they told me that! I was totally planning on hitching a ride with the next creepy trucker I saw. Whew! The more you know!

7. Metal Fang
Hailing from Kazakhstan, this sociopath got the nickname of "Metal Fang" due to his white metal teeth, that he used to eat the 50 to 100 women that he murdered. Surprisingly, he was never found guilty for his crimes, due to a diagnosis of insanity and schizophrenia. He's been in and out of mental instututions for the last 30 years, and the last that anybody heard of him was that he was deemed "cured" and is now a free man. That, despite reservations from some of his doctors who he will never be cured of his cannibalistic instincts. Well, seeing as how he's a free man, and he was never found responsible for his crimes, he's free to travel the world! That means he could be anywhere, even your attic. Why don't you go take a look-see?

8. The Long Island serial killer
This psycho is an unidentified serial killer who's believed to have been responsible for 10 to 14 murders of women associated with the sex trade since 1996. He got his name for the way that he dumps his victim's bodies along Ocean Parkway on Long Island, New York. Some people even believe that this killer could have ties to law enforcement because of his sophisticated knowledge of police procedures. So in other words, there's a real-life Dexter? Well, that's comforting. I guess it's to serve and protect, and chop you up into little pieces, Clarice.

9. Smiley face killer
The Smiley face killer is the name given to an unidentified killer who's been responsible for over 200 murders since the early 1990s. In every case, a young man disappeared after a late night of partying and was found drowned after a certain time. His name was given after detectives found a graffiti Smiley face at many of the drowning sites. What's interesting about this killer is that, similar to the highway killings, these occurred across the entire United States. See? You should never trust someone that's all about smiling and seems happy all the time, because they're probably a psycho.

10. Mexicali ripper
The Mexicali ripper is an unidentified serial killer from Mexico who's responsible for killing over 44 women since 2008. He dismembers his victims, throwing the pieces into canals and vacant lots, primarily targetting prostitutes in the city. Up until 2011, Mexican police refused to admit the existence of a serial killer, due to the vast number of crime-related murders. However, they have no choice now, as a serious threat exists. Wait a minute, Mexican police tried to cover this up? But that sounds like corruption! Mexican police aren't corrupt! Nah! And that's all for this time, guys! If you enjoyed this video, you should definitely check out my friend Rob Dyke's new video called "The Creepiest Death Rituals." It's exactly what it sounds like. He talks about the creepiest death rituals in the world. It'll freak you out a little bit, but it's super, super interesting. It's part of his Seriously Strange show.

Top 10 Amazing Facts About Singapore

Top 10 Amazing Facts About Singapore

Our journey around the world continues with a stop at Lion City or the Little Red Dot, a region you may know as the Republic of Singapore. Located on the southern tip of Asia at the edge of peninsular Malaysia, this global financial center is unbelievably rich with culture, history, and commerce, which made picking only 10 amazing facts about Singapore a difficult task.

10. The Food of Singapore
Wondering what culinary delights await you should you ever make the trip to Singapore? Before diving into the types of cuisine, let’s explore where you may be indulging in these fine eats. Hawker centers, commonly found in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, are outdoor hubs lined with inexpensive eateries, like an American food court, just government owned and held to a slightly higher standard. Should you find a suitable stall to dine in, you may find yourself chowing down on the “national” dish, chicken rice, or other favorites like fried carrot cake, laksa, kaya toast, rojak, char kway teow, or hokkien prawn mee. Being a coastal country, expect a lot of seafood, including crab, prawns, and the occasional fish head.

9. Famous Singaporeans
We could debate over whether or not Jet Li or Jackie Chan are true Singaporeans after emigrating from China, but we’d rather skip ahead and honor the true faces of Singapore - the nationals that have Singapore running through their blood. Actors and actresses that represent Singapore include Chen Guohua, Cheryl Chin, Anwar Hadi, and Melvinder Kanth. Making up the country’s finest athletes are Joseph Schooling, Jasmine Ser Xiang Wei, and Derek Kong, all who participated for Team Singapore in past Olympic Games. Singapore is also home to Singaporean-turned-Canadian actress Erika Tham and Singaporean-turned-American Twilight actor Monroe Jackson Rathbone. Looking for the YouTubers? Be sure to check out channels like Singapore with JianHao Tan, Wah!banana, ClickNetwork, and TreePotatoes.

8. Things to Do in Singapore
If admiring the sheer beauty of the country isn’t enough, there is quite the offering of things to see and do in Singapore. For a little bit of natural history, the Singapore Botanical Garden is a 156-year-old paradise inducted as the only tropical garden UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travelers in need of an adrenaline rush will anxiously await a ride on the 541-foot or 165-meter tall observation wheel or a climb up the 429-foot or 131-meter tall Tiger Sky Tower. Of course, if thrill rides and amusement are what you’re looking for, there’s always Universal Studios Singapore. To brush up on your Asian and local history, a trip to the Chinatown Heritage Centre or Peranakan Museum may also be in order.

7. Official Languages
Being an Asian country, clearly, the official language of Singapore would be something influenced by the region, right? Well, that’s partially right. You see, Singapore recognizes four official languages: Malay, Mandarin, Tamil, and, you guessed it, English! Wait a tick. One of these things is not like the other! Back in the early 19th century, British settlers called a small slice of Singapore home. Though the port colony was temporary, when Singapore gained independence in 1965, it kept English around as a means of bridging ethnic gaps. Over the years, English, which has become more Americanized in the region, has become a predominant language spoken within Singaporean homes.

6. World Toilet Day
In November of 2001, the World Toilet Organization formed and held the inaugural World Toilet Summit as a means of spreading awareness about the otherwise unknown global sanitation crisis. While recognized in the private sector, the World Toilet Organization, which started recognizing November 19th as World Toilet Day, found progress constipated by lack of worldwide recognition that is until the Government of Singapore stepped in and took the toilet by the seat. In 2013, Singapore filed its first UN resolution titled “Sanitation for All,” bringing worldwide attention to the World Toilet Organization’s movement. By July 24th, 2013, the resolution received sponsorship from 122 countries and the UN adopted World Toilet Day as an official day.

5. Singapore Legalities
Singapore may be a beautiful country to visit, but before making any travel arrangements, you may want to brush up on your Singaporean law to avoid being publicly caned. That’s right, caning is still implemented, but not just for crimes. It’s also a means of discipline in schools and the military. In an effort to cut down on the unsightliness of chewed gum being left everywhere, the country enacted a ban on chewing gum. The only gum allowed is for dental purposes or nicotine gum. If that sounds extreme, a statute covering offenses against public order and nuisance technically makes playing a musical instrument in public a possible crime if it’s deemed an annoyance. On a more positive note, that guy that refuses to flush the toilet before letting you use it would also be subject to legal action.

4. The Islands of Singapore
There are many incredible aspects of Singapore and just off the coast of the city-state are upwards of 60 different individual facets that provide their own worlds of wonder. While many of Singapore’s 60 plus islands are little more than unexplorable land-masses, there are quite a few that serve as their own private paradises. Islands like Pulau Satumu, Pulau Serangoon, Pulau Ubin, and Kusu Island offer bits of historical and cultural wonder coupled with the occasional up-close-and-personal journey through untouched nature. On October 1st, 1958, the United Kingdom released rule of the mineral-rich Christmas Island from Singapore to Australia so that the latter could benefit from the phosphate reserves found on the island.

3. Singaporean World Records
Every country has records to be prideful over, with Singapore being no different. For instance, how can one not feel national pride for the June 2005 record of the world’s largest collection of tortoises and turtles, which was earned by Danny Tan and his collection of 3,456 specimens? There’s also the world’s smallest optical mouse at just over 1-inch or 42 millimeters, which is both impressive and practical! In this day and age, being able to type the fastest text message is something to tout, and on three separate occasions, Singaporeans broke the record on non-touch screen phones. Finally, who can forget that time 263 people gathered in Singapore donning the classic Ghostbusters’ “No Ghost” symbol to honor the arrival of Melissa McCarthy? If there’s any doubt, that was recognized by the Guinness World Records.

2. Singapore and Commerce
When you think of Singapore, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? If it’s not commerce and trade, then you may not know the Republic of Singapore as well as you thought! The country has become known as a global figure of commerce and has been declared the most “technology-read” nation, the country with the 3rd largest foreign exchange market, the 3rd largest financial center, and the 3rd largest trading center. All of these accolades have culminated in Singapore being the only country in Asia to earn a AAA sovereign rating with all major credit rating agencies. The lack of limitations on how open the economy is has helped Singapore garner a per-capita GDP that surpassed world powers like the United States.

1. Independence from Malaysia
When looking at the big picture, as a sovereign country, Singapore is fairly young. It wasn’t until August 9th, 1965 that it separated from Malaysia to become an independent entity, and with how the country has prospered, it certainly wasn’t a fool’s move. What’s surprising is that just 2 years earlier, Singapore entered the Malaysia Agreement and the Federation of Malaysia was formed, comprised of Malaya, Sarawak, North Borneo, and Singapore. Even before becoming one large union, political discord was common among the two political parties, the People’s Action Party and the United Malays National Organization. An outbreak of violence over the tension occurred between July 21st and September 2nd of 1964 and it started to become very clear that the federation may not be able to sustain itself. By June of 1965, separating Singapore from Malaysia was imminent and inevitable.

How Does the Stock Market Work?

How Does the Stock Market Work

In the 1600s the Dutch East India Company employed hundreds of ships to trade gold, porcelain, spices, and silks around the globe. But running this massive operation wasn’t cheap. In order to fund their expensive voyages, the company turned to private citizens– individuals who could invest money to support the trip in exchange for a share of the ship’s profits. This practice allowed the company to afford even grander voyages, increasing profits for both themselves and their savvy investors.

Selling these shares in coffee houses and shipping ports across the continent, the Dutch East India Company unknowingly invented the world’s first stock market. Since then, companies have been collecting funds from willing investors to support all kinds of businesses. And today, the stock market has schools, careers, and even whole television channels dedicated to understanding it. But the modern stock market is significantly more complicated than its original incarnation. So how do companies and investors use the market today? Let’s imagine a new coffee company that decides to launch on the market. First, the company will advertise itself to big investors. If they think the company is a good idea, they get the first crack at investing, and then sponsor the company’s initial public offering, or IPO. This launches the company onto the official public market, where any company or individual who believes the business could be profitable might buy a stock.

Buying stocks makes those investors partial owners in the business. Their investment helps the company to grow, and as it becomes more successful, more buyers may see potential and start buying stocks. As demand for those stocks increases, so does their price, increasing the cost for prospective buyers, and raising the value of the company's stocks people already own. For the company, this increased interest helps fund new initiatives, and also boosts its overall market value by showing how many people are willing to invest in their idea. However, if for some reason a company starts to seem less profitable the reverse can also happen.

If investors think their stock value is going to decline, they’ll sell their stocks with the hopes of making a profit before the company loses more value. As stocks are sold and demand for the stock goes down, the stock price falls, and with it, the company’s market value. This can leave investors with big losses–unless the company starts to look profitable again. This see-saw of supply and demand is influenced by many factors. Companies are under the unavoidable influence of market forces–such as the fluctuating price of materials, changes in production technology, and the shifting costs of labor.

Investors may be worried about changes in leadership, bad publicity, or larger factors like new laws and trade policies. And of course, plenty of investors are simply ready to sell valuable stocks and pursue personal interests. All these variables cause day-to-day noise in the market, which can make companies appear more or less successful. And in the stock market, appearing to lose value often leads to losing investors, and in turn, losing actual value. Human confidence in the market has the power to trigger everything from economic booms to financial crises. And this difficult-to-track variable is why most professionals promote reliable long term investing over trying to make quick cash.

However, experts are constantly building tools in efforts to increase their chances of success in this highly unpredictable system. But the stock market is not just for the rich and powerful. With the dawn of the Internet, everyday investors can buy stocks in many of the exact same ways a large investor would. And as more people educate themselves about this complex system they too can trade stocks, support the businesses they believe in, and pursue their financial goals. The first step is getting invested.

Regardless of what you believe, there are those out there that swear by astrological readings, tarot cards, and psychics. That also means there are people out there that would pay others to provide said services, turning what some would consider ludicrous into a viable business. Via websites like Kasamba.com, alleged psychics can sign themselves up for paid live chat sessions and charge a specific amount per minute.
