The Trump administration has released secret files from alleged UFO recordings.
At the behest of President Donald Trump , the first batch was released on May 8. He is the latest president to release U.S. government reports on unidentified flying objects, a process of disclosure that began in the late 1970s.
According to Reuters , Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that documents, photos and videos of what are officially called "unidentified anomalous phenomena" have fueled speculation and theories for years.
"It's time for the American people to see it with their own eyes ," he said in a statement.
One of the 222 files released Friday includes 116 pages of documentation about a series of reported sightings and investigations at a top-secret facility in Sandia, New Mexico, from 1948 to 1950.
"This file contains 209 reports of 'green spheres', 'discs' and 'fireballs' spotted near the military base ," the Ministry of Defense said.
Experts said the first batch contained new videos of known sightings, but did not provide any definitive evidence of alien technology or extraterrestrial life.
