The whole planet has been holding its breath, watching in horror for the last two weeks the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The latest information converges that the time has come for the great battle of Kiev, which can finally decide the outcome of the war. Ukrainian military sources say that the Ukrainian capital is almost surrounded by numerous Russian troops, which may include Wagner mercenaries.
The Ukrainians, for their part, are fortifying the city and trying to stop the advance of the Russian army with roadblocks, blockades, and even the construction of bridges and roads of strategic importance. In any case, receiving the message from their president Volodymyr Zelensky, they are ready to defend Kiev to the end.
At the same time, Zelensky is trying to find the right path that will lead him to a compromise with Putin, even at the last minute. Speaking to the German newspaper Bild, the Ukrainian president stressed that he was ready for compromises, however, as he stressed, he was not going to betray his country.
He reiterated that only a top deal, between himself and Vladimir Putin, could end Ukraine's bloodshed. So far there is no comment from the Russian side.
At the same time, the diplomatic effort will culminate on Thursday with a meeting on Turkish soil between the two countries' foreign ministers, Russian Sergei Lavrov and Ukrainian Dmitry Kuleba. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
