The 5 Ethical Commandments of All Entrepreneurship

Each enterprise, like any trade, has its moral codes, its general ethical commandments for a healthy and dignified competition that benefits those who strive and deserve it ...

Nowadays everyone talks about entrepreneurship, everyone wants to grow and win, but above all they want to do it quickly, and in many cases that can mean doing things that, in the long run, work against you or are reversed, waiting for you. around the corner to collect your price. Every trade has its moral codes , its general ethical commandments for a healthy and dignified competition that benefits those who strive and deserve it, without harming others, or at least not doing it beyond what is strictly unavoidable.

And since ethics is an essential part of the life of a successful professional, it is convenient to inform ourselves about which are the most responsible positions when starting an enterprise .

Ethical commandments of all entrepreneurship

1. You will not do to others what you would not tolerate being done to you

A principle, this one, drawn from Christian common sense. Unsurpassed in simplicity and in vision of justice in life, it should be the foundation stone of your entrepreneurship projects. No one is to blame for the frustrations and sacrifices you have faced in life, or the consequences of the decisions you made. Do not treat others as if they were, nor allow them to do so with you . Do not join the long chain of grudges, abuse and petulance that often tarnishes the relationship between those who inhabit the business world.

Be frank, be humble. Remember that the earth turns and tomorrow you may be asking for favors or facing off as an adversary whom today you give yourself the toupee to despise . Be assertive with your relationships and remember that the world smiles at those who smile first.

2. You will honor the rules and legislation, as well as your contractual responsibilities

In the same suit as the previous commandment: fulfill your commitments and respect the rules of the game. Believe me, there are no fast tracks in the financial world and everything, absolutely everything that is done, pays .

It may not seem like it initially, but if you risk your company in shady shortcuts or stop respecting your employees, you will soon lose the respect and trust of those around you. And without those two social pillars, nothing in the world works as it should. Remember, you are not the only one who knows how to play dirty. Do it and you will see how soon they will do it to you.

It is always preferable to manage  by example .

3. You will be grateful to your collaborators

No matter how small, no matter how insignificant their help, it doesn't matter: be grateful. Reward loyalties and cultivate appreciation and respect as a business added value. The best consequence of this will be to enjoy a constant flow of ideas, proposals, considerations and, of course, benefits. You never know where the winning idea will come from, so make yourself worthy of being the one to hear it first .

4. You will value the work

His own, obviously, but also someone else's. Don't be mean to your staff, or expect them to work for free. Value their time, get to know them, make them your team . If not, never expect their understanding or support beyond the formal limit.

For example, if you don't pay overtime, or don't reward it in some way, your team will stampede as soon as the office clock strikes. If you are not understanding of the needs of each employee, if you do not take the time to meet them, they will see you through the glass of that indifference, and they will be easily grasped by the human resource hunters of the competition. Take care of your team .

5. You will always work for the common good

As simple as it sounds: your job is not to make yourself a millionaire at whatever cost. Your task is to put a grain of sand, solve a need, satisfy a demand. In short: bet on a better world . Your way, with your talents. You are not a superhero. But not a bird of prey, either.

Show yourself respectful of life and the world, which gives you the opportunity to grow and fulfill your goals. Do not pollute more than is necessary (and even then, think of solutions so as not to do so much), nor cultivate unhappiness among your peers. Don't lose your vital perspective : everyone in the world, rich and poor, is going to die. Think about what you want them to say about you when you are gone. That is the real goal .

By following these five commandments you will be able to keep the helm on its ideal course and guarantee yourself professionalism, health and peace of conscience. The important thing is to sleep peacefully at the end of the day, so try to undertake responsibly.
