Attempted Hijacking in Havana
Exchange of fire at Havana airport in an attempted hijacking
An exchange of fire broke out at Havana airport on Thursday morning between police and three Cuban soldiers trying to seize a plane to leave the country, an airport source told AFP, adding that the situation was "under control". The exchange of fire took place at Terminal 2 of Havana Jose Marti Airport, from where flights to Miami are operated, the source said by telephone, who did not want to be named. The soldiers arrived by bus near the airport terminal 2 and crossed it to the plane, a Boeing 737 that had just arrived from Santiago, Cuba (southeast). The information has not been confirmed by an official source.
