Iraq: Suicide attack on police station
A suicide bomber blew himself up at a police station in an Iraqi city, killing nine people.
A car bomb had exploded at an Iraqi police recruiting center at Kisak, near the Syrian border, killing at least nine people and wounding 22, police said. The bomber struck shortly after noon in the northern city of Rabea, north of Mosul. Four police officers are among the dead, according to a statement from the security authorities.
Attacks on various Iraqi cities have escalated since US forces decided to turn their attention to Baghdad and shield the capital. As a result, terror has spread throughout Iraq. Kamikaze attacks are a daily occurrence in the troubled country, and after the US Congress approves a new plan to finance the war in Iraq, the resolution of the tragedy seems to be taking a long time.
