Britain optimistic about agreement at G8 summit on gas emissions cuts
The British Prime Minister appeared moderately optimistic that an agreement will be reached for substantial cuts in gas emissions
Mr Blair has said he agrees to a G8 summit after meeting with British Prime Minister George W. Bush. tackling the greenhouse effect.
Referring to the missile shield in Europe, George W. Bush - before his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin - reiterated that the Cold War is over and that Russia is not an enemy of the United States.
The demonstrations are canceled
The organizers of the anti-globalization protests canceled the demonstration scheduled for Thursday, after the authorities banned it. However, about 1,000 people gathered peacefully at two points near the 12-kilometer-long fence surrounding Hilligentham.
