Missile Shield
Vladimir Putin suggested using facilities in Azerbaijan instead of a missile shield.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of the summit of the 8 richest countries in the world in Heiligendamm, Germany, proposed a solution to replace the US "missile shield" plan, which will use facilities from Azerbaijan-era Azerbaijan.
Mr Putin suggested to George W. Bush that instead of deploying radars and interceptor missiles in the Czech Republic and Poland, the threats posed by the Soviet states should be addressed with Soviet-era facilities in Azerbaijan, according to the proposals.
